Fireworks Regulations Reminder

Mayor Dennis Estok would like to remind residents that the City has an ordinance in place regarding the use and discharging of fireworks.

The use, discharging or ignition of consumer fireworks by any person or other entity is prohibited in the corporate limits of the City of Knox except during the following periods:

  1. Between the hours of 5:00 pm and two hours after sunset on June 29, June 30, July 1, July 2, July 3, July 5, July 6, July 7, July 8 and July 9.
  2. Between the hours of 10:00 am and 12:00 midnight on July 4;
    and
  3. Between the hours of 10:00 am on December 31 and 1:00 am on January 1.

As a reminder, under Ordinance 1070, the City of Knox does have the right to enforce these restrictions and if residents are found to be in violation of the terms of this Ordinance, citations will be handed out accordingly and enforced.

A fine in the amount of $100.00 can be issued beginning with the 1st offense, $200.00 for the second and reach up to $500.00 with the third offense and every subsequent.
